I am descended from a JAMES BURHYTE who settled in Remsen, NY. I'll include below the info I have about him. I do want to find out his parents, where he came from etc., but haven't gotten farther as yet. Hope this helps.

The History of Remsen 1789-1898 includes the following:

James Beaurhyte* settled in Remsen village at an early day. He built a house on Main Street just north of the lane which leads to the steam mill, where he lived for many years. His children were Catherine, who married a Mr. Crosby; Ambrose of Willow Vale, NY; James, who died October 14, 1842, aged twenty one years; Augustus, and Delos. * also written as Burhyte

Also from the History of Remsen Page 31:

Continuing south from the Mitchell hotel, the first building was the house of James Beaurhyte, which is still a landmark of the village, occupying a site on the north corner of the lane leading to Steam Mill.

In the Saratoga Springs Census, James is listed as age 78 and was collecting pension.

Children of JAMES BURHYTE are:

i.       AMBROSE BURHYTE was born September 8, 1825 and died November 13, 1898.
ii.       CATHERINE BURHYTE married UNKNOWN CROSBY.
iii.       JAMES BURHYTE, d. October 14, 1842, at age 21 years.
iv.       AUGUSTUS BURHYTE was born 1849.
v.       DELOS BURHYTE, d. after 1864, Hudson, Wisconsin.
