Kathy:
I am currently actively researching the BURGETT/PATTERSON connection with Ellen Craven of Battleground, WA. Ellen is a descendant of Washington PATTERSON, the father of Cynthia PATTERSON, who m. Ira Alvinza BURGET in Benton Co., OR ca. 1859. Interesting enough, Reuben F. BURGET, a younger brother of John A. BURGET and Lucy M. HOSKINS, also married Alvira PATTERSON. Reuben migrated from Ashtabula Co., OH to MO by 1840 and was aboard 'the second wagon through' to OR via the Oregon Trail in 1847. He and his son, William, settled in Kings Valley, Benton Co., OR, where he was granted a 'donation land claim.' I have corresponded with some of his descendants still living in Kings Valley. I believe that the PATTERSON family probably migrated from up-state NY to Ashtabula Co., OH at about the same time that four BURGET siblings--all children of Jehoiakim BURGET, Sr. and Sarah WHITE-- [Judith m. Josiah DODGE; William, Sr. m. Abigail ANDREWS; Milbury m. Sarah ANDREWS; and Jehoiakim, Jr. m. 1)Katherine DODGE and 2)Catherine Ann Sarissa PATTERSON]migrated from Chenango Co., NY to Ashtabula Co., OH.
