I might have a clue as to what Achilles African tribe may be.
Here are the tribes where haplogroup B is most common:
hunter-gather groups in Ethiopia and Sudan, modern Pygmies like the Baka and Mbuti, but also Hadzabe from Tanzania, who are often mistakenly considered as a remnant of Khoisan people in East Africa.
Sub-group B2b is seen among Central African Pygmies and South African Khoisan, given that Achilles has an undifferentiated B, it is extremely unlikely to have Pygmy origins, especially considering that he was able to fully integrate in to early American society as a free man, and eventually produce N. Europid descendants, in the physical sense.
The next likely option is the The Isubu, a Cameroonian group, and Cameroonians have the next closest haplogroup to a B proper, B2a, B2a being much closer to B on the haplo. family tree than B2b.
(Isuwu, Bimbians) are an ethnic group who inhabit part of the coast of Cameroon. Along with other coastal peoples, they belong to Cameroon's Sawa ethnic groups. They were one of the earliest Cameroonian peoples to make contact with Europeans, and over two centuries, they became influential traders and middlemen. Under the kings William I of Bimbia and Young King William, the Isubu formed a state called Bimbia.
Then the last, Sudanese or Ehiopian. Haplogroup B stemming from the furthest reaches of the Bantu expansion, reaches into Ethiopia and Sudan.
The patchy, widespread distribution of these haplogroups may mean that they are remnants of ancient lineages that once had a much wider range but have been largely displaced by more recent population events.
I personally think Isuwu or Sudanese are the most likely of the options.
