Burgess DNA Project Report #19

Dear Cousins,

The website for the Burgess DNA Project has now been updated, with a doubling in size of the two Ancestral Family sections. This includes a major reworking of the family of Thomas Burgess Sr. of Orange and Pittsylvania Cos., Virginia. Please search www.millefleurs.tv, under the "Burgess Genealogy" link, to see the full site.

We now have almost 200 participants in the Project, and many new matches to report:

The family of Joel Burgess of Amelia and Bedford Cos., Virginia, and Laurens Co., South Carolina has matched three other fmailies in the Project. Since the Joel line predates the others, it may be the senior family.

Descendants of Adam Burgess of Dumfries Co., Scotland, and Joseph Drury Burgess of Ireland and Sumter Co., South Carolina have matched. The Scottish line is earlier in time, and may be the senior family.

The family of James Burgess of Sussex Co., England, has matched two New England families.

We have our first random match between two British families: Francis Burgess of Berkshire Co. and Richard Burgess of Hertfordshire Co.

I've tentatively pushed the family of John Burgess of Humphreys Co., Tennessee back another generation into North Carolina. In addition, the Austin "Auzy" Burgess family of neighboring Dickson Co. has now been shown to belong to the conjoined lines of Edward Burgess of Pittsylvania Co., Virginia, and William Burgess of Montgomery Co., Maryland. Sometimes NOT finding a connection between two neighboring families is as important as proving one.

We also have many other new matches with the family groups already represented in the Project--but you can explore these more fully on the Project website.

Thanks to all the participants and to all those interested in Burgess genealogy for your continued support.

All best:

Michael Burgess
