Tingey Burgess was born Little Downham Cambs to Aunger Burgess & Sarah Tingey. They had other children and by 1841 Aunger was a widower and an agricultural bailiff. He was living with a housekeeper Mary Scott and the children in Connington Hunts. Aunger and Mary married and had further children. Aunger died in 1845 leaving Mary on parish relief.
Tingey and Emma his young sister went to London and tingey married his childhood sweetheart Betsy Fairy in 1859. Shortly after they went to Toronto Canada and had 2 children (Charlotte) Emily 1863 and Elizabeth Mary in 1865.
For whatever reasons they returned to London by 1867 and had a son Francis Edward. Tingey died in 1878 in London and it appears Francis went to Shaftesbury Boarding School in Surrey from whence he may have joined the military.
Betsy continued to live around central London until 1901 +.
C. Emily married Frederick Edward Tanser in 1898 and Elizabbeth Mary married Henry John Williams in 1894. She subsequently had 2 sons (at least) John Francis RJ Williams bn 1895 in Oakham and Arthur Richard Williams bn 1900 in Watford.
I have no information post 1901 and would love to have any addit. wee gem that may have significance for family in NZ.
1. When did Betsy die?
2. I understand Shaftesbury School opened in 1872- can anyone give me any further leads?
3. Did Emily and Frederick Tanser have any children?
4. Did Elizabeth & John Williams have any further children?
5.Did Francis Edward marry? Have children?
Happy to share the info I have with family - would love to trace a descendant/s
