A Twofer--Joseph Burgess & Thankful Snow (Mayflower & RD--royal descent)
Posted by: howard sachs (ID *****4165) Date: April 26, 2004 at 06:38:07

Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower has a line to the Burgess family through Thankful Snow's marriage to Joseph, born 1701, son of Joseph Burgess, son of John "Burge". John married Mary Worden, born 1639, daughter and granddaughter of Immigrants named Peter Worden. They are identified in the currently published "Royal Descents of 600 Immigrants", by Gary Boyd Roberts, as descended from William the Lion of Scotland. He may be a bit obscure (although his history is lively) but his royal line is in Macbeth (the good guys). Through maternal lines he (and those who latch on to him) are descended from Alfred the Great of England and the sister of William the Conqueror.
