I recently discovered a book by Mary Mitchell Clarke entitled Shatteen Coker Mitchell, 1802-1866, Anundsen Pub. Co., 198 Washington Str, Box 230, Decorah, Iowa 52101, 1991. A copy is available in the NSDAR Library, Washington, D.C. The family of Frederick Burdett,grandfather of Mahalah Burdett is detailed. Mahalah Burdett b. 1805, d. 02 Apr 1852 was first wife of Shatteen Coker Mitchell. She was a daughter of Henry Burdett and his wife Nancy Clark. There are some interesting stories in this book. I am trying to connect Frederick Burdett to William R. Burdett. William and his wife, Patience Delacy Hart, were parents of 4 children - William Jr., Giles, Jesse F. who m. Mildred Crain, and Mary (Polly) who m. Ambrose Crain.
