David, it seems to me that your Humphrey must have gotten the land grant because of his father's service. Since GA Humphrey was born in 1780, he could not have been the Rev war soldier. I have not been able to find any pension record for Humphrey but do have Jarvis' which I found at the National Archives. If you can locate GA land grant, perhaps it will have more explicit info. I know that Humphrey was my gggg grandfather but have no proof that he was the one in the Elk Creek Militia. Can't believe how many in the family carried that first name. Thanks for your reply. Look forward to more clues in the future.
