Areleta, Thanks for writing. It sounds good! I am aware of primogeniture--I teach it in my college history classes. I am also aware that when then younger sons got left out AND if they have fought in the American Revolution they often got land grants in Georgia. My gggg Humphrey Burdett got such a land grant in Wilkes Co., GA, which made me believe HE was the Humphrey in the old book in the CH in (Franklin?). That will in one county and probated in another has thrown me. NOW I KNOW. I think my printed will in Shreveport, LA library DID NOT SAY IT WAS WRITTEN IN HENRY, OR I WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THAT. It just gave the county where it was probated, and that threw me. CAN NOT EVER BEAT THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT. This sounds great! I'm "lovin it." Let us stay in contact. I may go to Georgia on May 11, not sure. Between semesters. At one point, I was getting some vibes from the Wilkes records. I'll have to find that or stop by Shreveport on my way to GA. Seems like I wanted to "watch" GREER, maybe GRAVES (??) ++. Like I told you, Burdetts came with others from VA to Wilkes/GA about 1785. At least a few more tidbits of clues. I'll find it again. My best, David
