Dear Areleta,

Thank you for writing. I am getting so confused now I need to step back and regroup.
I just wrote Ken and gave him wrong counties. Instead of Orange Co., VA, I MEANT CAROLINE COUNTY. I have seen all your names in past years, but I have been out of gene somewhat in "retiring," changing careers, have new computer--hardly know how to use it.

NONETHELESS, WHAT I TOLD KEN, I think the name "Humphrey Burdett" is so unusual that it has to connect somewhere in VA.

Was YOUR Humphrey Burdett will in 1784-95 in Ricmond Co., VA? Is this what I am trying to remember? Is it possible YOUR HUMPHREY WAS FATHER OF MY HUMPHREY (d. 1819 in Wilkes Co., GA).

I am very interested in this and so glad to contact SOMEONE RELATED TO A HUMPHREY IN VA. YOU ARE MY FIRST, and I worked on this, sometimes very diligently, for 30 years! My email is not working. Please stay in contact here.

Thank you so much for writing. I teach U. S. history parttime now in two community colleges in East Texas--a little change this year!

Look what I said to Ken about going to a CH in VA and finding that old book that listed a Humphrey Burdett who joined the Am. Rev. THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN FRANKLIN CO. It has been any years ago, but that Elm Creek reings a bell. You may already know about that old courthouse book.

That might be YOUR HUMPHREY AND NOT MINE???? iT seemed so close to Henry I "assumed" (NEVER DO) it was mine, because if my ggg Humphrey Burdett was born in VA in 1780 and all I could find was ANOTHER Humphrey in Henry in tax list that year, I may have wrongly "assumed." Would love to share and compare with you on this.

I don't know my gggg Francis or Elizabeth' maiden name, but I did find families who came to Wilkes Co., GA. with them in the mid 1780s--about 1785. I will have to find that. I may go to GA in a couple of weeks between semesters. Let me see what I can find. I have also moved/loaned Burdett records (a NO NO again!). David
