A cousin of mine done a little research on Thomas Burdett.
Here is what he has:
Thomas Burdett entered into a marriage contract with Verlinda Cotton, 1 Sep. 1658, in Northampton Co. Va. Thomas died before 2 Mar. 1667/68 when administration of his estate was granted to "Virlinda Burdett, the relict." children of Thomas & Verlinda Burdett were: Elizabeth w/o John Hamiltion; Frances probably married Co. Charles Ashton; Pathenia and Sarah w/o Gerard Fowke. William's only son, Thomas had no sons of his own, the Burdett line of this William Burdett seems to have stopped with Thomas
It should be noted however, that in 1639 William Burdett of Accomack Co. Va. sponsored the immigration of William Burdett to America [Ref:George Cabell Greer, Early Virginia Immigrants, Baltimore, MD Gen. Publ. company 1960. 53.]
Was this William Burdett who immigrated to America in 1639 pehaps the son of Richard Burdett, the brother of william Burdett of Accomack Co.? Was he perhaps the progenitor of the Burdetts who apprard in Caroline Co. & Prince William Co. Va. early in the 18th. century.
Thomas's parents: William Burdett, b. abt. 1599 in England and died betw. 22 July-Aug 07, 1643, married Frances Lake, 16 Sep. 1633 in Accomack Va. William married 2nd. Alice after abt. 1641. William immigrated to America in 1615 aboard the "Susan". Will dated 22 Jul. 1643,proved 7 Aug. 1643 and is recorded in the courthouse of Northampton Co. Va.
My cousin Howard Burdette, has a book out with 6 generations of this Burdett line.
