I'm working on the Burd family at the moment for a descendant of Virgil's brother Carl. I believe (at this time...) that the parents of Virgil Burd were William Martin Burd (Feb 1854 - 4 Feb 1938) and Cora Butler (ca. 1857 - bet. 1888&1900), who were married in Anderson Co. TX on 15 Nov 1874. After Cora died, William Martin Burd married Mary P. (née Phillips), who had also been married once before. They were married ca. 1899.

Virgil participated in WWI, and there is a photo of him, as well as some details of his service, in "History of Texas World War Heroes," published by Army & Navy History Co., Dallas, TX, (c)1919.
