Am looking for any information on the parents & siblings of Jacob A. Gehring. He was born in Baden Baden 1800-1820. He was in Pennsylvania by 1837 when his oldest daughter Susannah was born. The mother of Susannah & two of her brothers, Gideon/William & John & two of her sisters, Mary Ann & Catherine was supposed to have been Eva Byrd (born in Germany) according to both Catherine's death certificate & an interview she gave in her old age, but according to all the Byrd/Bird/Burd I have contacted Byrd is not a German name; it is English or Irish. No one had a an Eva in their family either. (I would also like to Eva's parents & siblings.) Gideon/ William was born in Pennsylvania ca. 1837, Mary Ann in Pennsylvania in 1842 & Catherine was born in Pennsyvania in 1843. Some time between Catherine's birth & 1845 to 1847 when the youngest child John was born in Fulton County, Indiana the family moved to Indiana. Eva was supposed to have died ca. 1848 according to Catherine's interview, but she was still listed in 1850 Indiana census.
The last trace of Gideon and John was also in this census, although their was a William Gearing (Gearing is the spelling the family used in Fulton County.) who died in Fulton in 1911. He had been born in Pennsylvania ca. the same time as Gideon. He had been on the county poor farm since 1980. His death certificate said he had epilepsy.
In 1853 Jacob married Christine Miller in Fulton County, Indiana. With her he had Sophia & Christine. This wife died ca. 1859.
About 1860 Jacob moved to Minnesota.

Susannah married Joseph Bennett in 1853 in Fulton County. They had had two sons in Cass County, Ind. before moving to MN along with her younger sister Catherine. Catherine would marry Henry D. Van Blaricom & after 10 years in MN they would move to Oregon.

Mary was the last of this family to move to LeSueur County, MN, where she married Wesley Gish. Sophia came with her, but Christine was raised by the Conrad Metzger family in Fulton County.

Sophia would marry Martin Robbins & moved to Eden Valley.

Jacob was killed during the Sioux Uprising in 1862.

Also would appreciate any information on a possible relationship between Jacob or Eva and a Myrtle Po____/Myrtle Pro/?

Thanks

Jean
