Judy, I am descended from Arnold Thomas Burd (5/07/1818-2/07/1899). Among Arnold's siblings, I have a Charles O. Burd ( 6/13/1821-3/19/1892) who married Lucy Ann Brooks)and an Owen Burd (3/02/1812-1/01/1876) who married Celia L. Brooks. I have the parents of the Burd boys as William Burd, Jr. (d. abt 1829 Hart Co., Ky) and Hannah Owen (d. abt 1845, Hart Co.) William & Hannah married 27 Feb, 1811 in Hardin Co., Ky. William's parents were William Spencer Burd and Elizabeth Brooks. William Sr. & Jr. came to Ky from Spartanburg, S.C. in the 1790's. There is a Ky land grant to William, Jr. in Barren Co., Ky in 1815 of 150 acres.
There is extensive information on the Brooks family at the LDS site, www.familysearch.org.
Hope this helps. The only information I'll swear to is regarding Arnold and the land grant to William, Jr.
