“Robert Jones Is Married - Ceremony Solemnized at 11:30 Last Saturday Morning - Before a candlelight alter which was banked with white chrysanthemums, Miss Mary Catherine Burd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo F. Burd of Watertown, S.D. became the bride of Robert M. Jones of Madison, S.D., son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Jones of Fulda, in a ceremony at 11:30 o’clock on Saturday morning, November 17, in the Immaculate Conception church at Watertown. The Rev. C.C. Grovijahn, assistant pastor, performed the ceremony.

The processional and recessional were played by Sister M. Wilhelmina, who also accompanied the soloist, Miss Evelyn Hahn. The attendants were Miss Lucile Burd and Paul Burd, sister and brother of the bride, both students at the state University at Vermillion. The ushers were Charles Jones of Fulda, a brother of the groom, and Morton Wendt.

The bride wore a Chesterfield blue wool dress, street length, fashioned on simple lines, the bodice fulness pleated into a high neckline, full fly front and bracelet length sleeves. Her shoulder bouquet was of gardenias, and her only ornament was a brooch wore by her paternal grandmother on her wedding day. An original fox trimmed hat and black accessories completed her ensemble.

The bridesmaid wore an identical dress of rose beige, black accessories and talisman roses.

Immediately following the ceremony a wedding dinner was given for 31 guests at Nell’s Tea Room. A centerpiece of pink roses, a three tier wedding cake and favors in pink and blue adorned the table.

The bride is a graduate of the high school at Watertown and of St. Mary’s school of nursing at Rochester, and has been on the staff at the Veterans Administration at St. Cloud. The groom is a graduate of the School of Journalism at the University of Minneapolis where his is affiliated with Sigma Delta Chi, national honorary journalism fraternity. He is associated with the Madison Daily Leader.

Mr. and Mrs. Jones left Saturday afternoon for Madison where they are at home at 220 South Egan.”
