Huguenot Origins of Burchetts?

The family story told to me by my parents is that two Burchett brothers came to America from Scotland to fight in the Revolutionary War. They were decendants of French Huguenots who left France for Scotland - one of the islands, not the mainland - in the 1500's or 1600's. According to my information, I am a decendant of Burwell Burchett (b.?, d.1779, m. Mary Fannin, Virginia); John Burchett (b.1778, d.?, m.Jane Marion, Virginia?/Kentucky?); Achelis F. (b.1825, d.1904, m.Leah Jane Anderson, ?); William Cole Burchett (b.1863, d.1942, m.Sarah Dietrich, Iowa); Virgil Raymond Burchett (b.1905, d.1986, m. Elma L. Morrow, Iowa/California). I was born in Iowa in 1937 and have lived in California since age 3.
In reading this forum, there are many people researching the Burchett family who have ancesters in common. I would like very much to fill in my family tree, and especially to trace the family name back to Scotland and/or England. I will happily share my information with any respondants.
PS Has anyone heard that the original name in France may have been "Trebouchet"?
