Dear Ms. Lane,
Thank you for clearing up a part of my puzzle. In searching the census records of Lee County, VA, I ran across your John Burchett who married Lavinia Clark. I could not connect him with my family until reading your comments. I did not have him listed as a child of Burwell and Mary Ann Applegate. I'll have to do some more digging. I did find that he was a farmer and had the following children: Elisha, James, Elvira, Samuel and Sterling.
The other children of Burwell and Mary Ann that I have are Bejamin A., Burwell Jr., Sarah, Hezekiah, Robert, Theresa, Samuel A., Elizabeth, Achilles, and Laurina.
I have the name of John Burchett as being the father of the Burwell who fought during the Revolutionary War. I got the name from a distant relative in Oklahoma. That's as far as I have been able to go.
Would love to correspond with more detail if you wish.
