I might be related to the Burchett family from Floyd County, Kentucky. One of my ancestors was George W. Hale, who was born in 1842 in Floyd County. I was told George W. Hale was born illigitimate. His mother was Elizabeth Hale, who was the widow of William Hale who died in 1840. The Floyd County court took Elizabeth's six other children from her and placed them in other households to be raised and to learn a trade. George W. Hale lived with Thomas Burchett as a farm laborer in 1860. I think Thomas Burchett could be his father. Thomas Burchett was born in Virginia about 1794 and married Milly Mainor in 1816 in Floyd Co. Ky. He owned about 2000 acres of land in Floyd County. Does anyone have any information regarding Thomas Burchett and whether he had any illigitimate children with an Elizabeth Hale in Floyd County in the 1840's?
