Did any of your family tree roots swerve through Virginia, around Hopewell, in Prince George County? I have a George that I am tracing, who came from Virginia, and ended up in New York. He was African American, and might have escaped and got to New York via the Underground Railroad. I have not been able to locate much information, except that George and some other Birchetts are on a list of slaves owned by Edward Birchett in the mid-19th Century. Do you have any related information? Cyberspace blessings!
