The 1850 Census of Perry County, TN, shows a Mary Bircham (b 1804, NC) and her 3 sons, Jesse, Pleasant and Joel, living with my GGG Grandfather, Jesse Garrett (b 1802, NC) and his mother, Frances (b 1768, NC).
I have always assumed that Mary was Jesse Garrett's sister since they were both born in North Carolina within 2 years of each other, but that is only a guess. There is no mention of a Mr. Bircham, but I am hoping that someone has some information on Mary.
Pleasant and Jesse seem to have remained in the general middle Tennessee area. In the 1880 census, Pleasant Burcham is shown in Perry County, TN, while Jesse Burcham lives in Hardin, County, TN. Joel Burcham does not show up in the 1880 census, he may have died in the Civil War.
I appreciate any information that can help me find out more about this family.
