Lisa, I am not able to answer your question in its entirety, but do have some info. In the English Doomsday records mention is made of three parishs in Norfork co England in the 12th century-bircham-tuft,bircham-newton,and bircham-great. I have from White's history a page or two of info on bircham-great including a picture of St. Marys church with a corner stone form th 15th century. Doomsday record has a note where in he 12th century a man bought land a gave his name as bircham for the parish from which he came. Surnames where not that common before the 1100's. I also know that my gr-grandfathers brother Enochs name was spelled birchum in the 1870 census while his two brothers names where spell burcham in the same mo. co. census, They where joseph and William Are you related to this familys? My wife and I share email address so mine is free for business purpose elaine@i1.net We live in Farmington, Missouri
