Hi Bunworths,
I'm trying to trace my Great Grandfather Charles Bunworth, of Richmond Hill Cork, married in the Catholic Cathedral on 29 April 1876 to Mary Corbett of Dublin Hill Cork. Charles' father is listed as Richard and his occupation as 'labourer'.One of the family stories re Charles Bunworth is that either his father or one of his ancestors became a Roman Catholic and was subsequently 'kicked' out of his own family. I cannot trace this Richard Bunworth, but would any Bunworth family member/descendant ever hear of a story( in your own stories/histories ) of someone changing their religion and then being ejected from the family?
Even though Richard (my G/G Grandfather is listed as a 'labourer',) Richmond Hill in Cork would have been a fairly upper middle class area and his son Charles , was known to have certain airs and graces'.Thanks. Seán Dunne
