I believe that you are related to my husband. His grandfathers name is Clyde Bunting. Clyde is the son of John Henry Bunting b. 1874 and Clara Garber. John Henry is the son of John Bunting b. 4/19/1834 in Ohio and Mary Waters b. 8/14/1836 in Virginia. Other children of John and Mary are: Caroline, Orville, Mary, Marion Frances and my husband's great grandfather John Henry.
I, too, have had trouble finding the parents of John Bunting. You might check out Eli Bunting b. 1807. He is listed on the 1850 Ohio Census in Muskingum County with his wife Hannah and children Sarah, John (possible lead), Henry, William, Alice, Nancy, Charles, Eliza, Hester and Harvey. The William listed above married a woman named ? Waters. Also the Alice listed above resided in Warren County, Illinois with her husband ?Almond...this is where I found John Bunting living in 1870. It is quite possible that this may be tied in to your family. I have only been searching for about a month, but it is worth looking at. I have had trouble locating an 1880 census, too. Any suggestions?
