Hi Jill,

Thanks you've given me something to work on, I strongly suspect that this information could be what I'm looking for. Could you tell me what area this family come from. The information I have indicates that my Mary-Ann was born in Leicester about 1842 according to the 1881 Census. However I haven't been able to confirm this yet. I will now get obtain her year of Marriage from the Registration Records ( I hope), and get her Certificate this will give her fathers name, this may provide the definative link. (By the way I'm guessing that she married about at about the age of twenty ).

My Mary-Ann married George Almey, who orinated from Broughton Astley, in Leicestershire, if they are one on the same, we can link the families together, so far I'm back to to the 1600's with a couple of question marks, against a couple of the earlier Almey's.

Keep in touch I'll let you know what happens, when I get the information.

By the way if you've just started, treat the 1881 Census, and others with suspicion there a good guide but no more, apparently people for whatever reason, didn't always tell the truth, and the transciptions can be "ify".

Mike
