In trying to sort out some of my BUNN family, I happened to do a bit of research on the Mathew Bunn mentioned.
I had Mathew as a sibling to one of my ancestors, but I am fairly certain that is no longer correct.

Not certain if Clara Ellen is his wife or not. May be his sister (see 1850 census), but from 1850 to 1880 she is enumerated with Mathew. "IF" William Thomas and James Washington were born out of wedlock, its likely one of the fathers was HENRY.

It is very likely that Mathew served in the Mexican War in 1846. According to Goodspeed History of Carroll Co:
In 1846..The company served through the Mexican war as Company B, Second Tennessee Infantry...1886, only twenty of these veterans are living...M.Bunn.
