In trying to sort out some of my BUNN family, I happened to do a bit of research on the Mathew Bunn mentioned. I had Mathew as a sibling to one of my ancestors, but I am fairly certain that is no longer correct. - 1850 Carroll Co, TN census Rebecca Neisbet 50 NC Matthew Bunn 30 NC farmer [census taker wrote & Ancestry.com has surname transcribed as BOND] George Bunn 22 TN farmer Ellin Bunn 18 TN - 1860 Carroll Co, TN census Mathew Bunn 40 Farmer NC [Ancestry.com has transcribed as Marthaw Bunn] Rebecca Nisbet 60 Indwelling NC ["" Rebecca Nusbet] Clara Henry 25[?] TN William T. Henry 9 TN James W. Henry 2 TN - 1870 Carroll Co, TN census Mathew Bunn 50 farmer NC - can read & write Ellen Bunn 38 keeping house TN - cannot read & write Washington Bunn 12 TN - 1880 Carroll Co, TN census - brother George enumerated nearby M. Bunn 59 NC NC NC C. E. Bunn 47 TN NC NC - Not certain if Clara Ellen is his wife or not. May be his sister (see 1850 census), but from 1850 to 1880 she is enumerated with Mathew. "IF" William Thomas and James Washington were born out of wedlock, its likely one of the fathers was HENRY. - It is very likely that Mathew served in the Mexican War in 1846. According to Goodspeed History of Carroll Co: In 1846..The company served through the Mexican war as Company B, Second Tennessee Infantry...1886, only twenty of these veterans are living...M.Bunn.
