I disagree about only posting documented information. I have found many a good lead from undocumented information. As long as everyone remembers that nothing is proven until you prove it yourself.
Even "official" papers can be wrong. I have my grandfather's birth, marriage and death certificates and they have different surname spellings, places of birth, mother's maiden name and wife's maiden name. Perhaps some undocumented family history could really help me. I never would have found my husband's great-grandfather if I hadn't heard on-line about a family story that lead me to him. I believe every piece of "possible" information is important in helping us to narrow the search, or widen it if necessary, in proving or disproving our theories. Because, after all, in history, all we have are theories and not certainties.
