I am searching for the father of my 4g-grandfather Samuel Bumpus/Bumpass who came to Montgomery County, TN (we believe from Halifax Co. North Carolina.) He was in Montgomery Co. TN by August 1805 when he purchased land. His will names his wife as Jemima and the 1850 census gives NC as her birthplace. The Executors Bond for his estate was issued in October 1831. Any information about his parents and the surname of his wife would be greatly appreciated. I will share information from Montgomery County.
