There is a family Bible being auctioned on Ebay right now that has some Bumpass family information inside. I am not the seller and don't know anything else about this family, but I do hope this helps someone. In the description of the Bible it says, "Here's an Bible printed in New York, 1829, stereotyped by James Conner, for the American Bible Society. It looks like it was owned by a Virginia family. After all, this is where I got it. I've seen many old Virginia families with these Bibles, which have a leather binding and measure about five by seven inches. Not all that many family entries, here's some I see: Landonia [?] A. Bumpass, Book July the 22, 1850, I guess that means it was her book in 1850? On the next page is written in pencil, rather faint, William F. Wilkinson and Martha N. Bumpass was maried December 16, 1857. Also in pencil, on the next page is "My Dear uncle Georg Washington was born the 22 of February 1844." I assume that means George Washington Bumpass, as on a back page, in heavy ink, is written George Washington Bumpass was born Feburary 22 1844. No surprise that he was named after the father of our country, seeing that he was born on Feb 22. Also on the last page is 'Marthy Nelson was ...' and nothing further written. That's all the entries I see, probably some pages missing from the end of the book, now long gone. From what I can tell, all pages of the printing of the Bible are there. A copy of the pages with the names will be sent to the Library of Virginia before mailing the Bible." The item number for this Bible on Ebay is 6585949607 Notify Administrator about this message?
