Yes, I'm sure your right that your Reuben and mine were two different people. Living so close to one another made it quite a chore to sort them out. Reuben Bump/Bumpus of Bumpville, Bradford County PA, in the history of Bradford County, was said to have "served 5 hitches in the Rev. War" and, referring to he and wife Phoeby, "they had no children". Most genealogist state that he and brother Frederick were born in Sharon Ct. The records I have found give Cornwall CT. as Frederick's birth place and his birth date as 1764. Frederick, my third great grandfather, served two hitches in the Rev. War with the NY troups in Line and Levies for a total of 10 months. He was drafted. The family line goes; Frederick Bumpus, Edward Bumpas/Bumpus, Edward Bumpas Sr., John Bumpas and Edouad Bompasse. I have wanted to see where the two Reuben's ancestry ran together but haven't yet. Can you tell me off hand?
Hope you had a great trip.
Thanks, Marlow
