St. Charles (Kane County, Illinois) Chronicle, Oct. 4, 1934--Headline: Girl Scouts See the Fair Sights Friday with Scout Leader. A group of St. Charles Girl Scouts spent a very interesting and educational day touring the World's Fair last Friday. The party was in charge of Mrs. Earl Nippert, Scout leader, Mrs. Albert Anderson and Miss June Crawford accompanied them on the trip. The Scouts left St. Charles on the C.A. & E. at 8:43 a.m. At the Wells street terminal they took South Side "L" trains to 22nd St. and made use of the free "L" Bus transfer between that point and the Center (23rd St.) gate of the Fair. At the Fair the group divided into sections for their tour of the grounds, each group selecting the exhibits in which they were most interested. They remained in the evening to see the startling lighting effects presented by the brilliant illumination at night. The members of the party were Frances Akers, Elizabeth Burr, Doris Anderson, Helen Porter, Constance Wilson, Genevieve Ekstrom, Marion Ekstrom, Jean Crawford, Dorothy Giffin, Louise Bumgarner, Peggy Dale, Virginia Welchel and Carol Barcus.
