I have a mild interest in the Bulson surname through a very distant collateral line. One of my great-grandaunts was married to a man named Cobb whose parents were Stephen Cobb and Gertrude Bulson, who were married at Watervliet, Albany County, New York about 1837. I did a brief search and discovered that at least one cemetery in Watervliet has a great many BULSON burials. Also, the 1790 census of Watervliet shows no BULSONS -- but it does list three persons surnamed BULSING: Solomon, Benjamin, and Cornelius. Hope this helps you. I have no other information to offer. Gertrude Bulson Cobb lived and died in St. Lawrence County, New York.
