Bulmer DNA Testing / Bulmer Ancient History

I have just seen Paul Bulmer's message of Feb. 4, 2007 in which he states that he has a publication "The House of Bulmer" which covers the family history from 1042 to 1750. I have a descendant report which gives info covering the same period, but have seen reports which claim that this is fictional and was written to dupe Bulmers by charging them money to get what they thought was genuine genealogy !! I wonder if Paul has any reliable confirmation that the publication has any basis in facts ?
My maternal grandmother was a Bulmer from W. Hartlepool, Co. Durham, and I am very interested in the family history. Unfortunately I don't know any male descendants of her family who can participate in having the Y-chromosome DNA tests, but would love to see more DNA testing of male Bulmers with roots in the Co. Durham / Cleveland / Tyneside area.
