Faye! Good to hear from someone. My John Bulmer is my brick wall. I had heard that Bulmer's came from England to Canada and then to US. Don't know much about my John Bulmer. He was my 2nd greatgrandfather. My greatgrandmother was Mary A. Bulmer, born May 10, 1870, supposedly in Pennsylvania, but have no information to support her birth location. She was the daughter of JOHN BULMER and Lydia Rupp. Lydia was from Delaware, most likely Sussex County. John was said to have been from Maine. He was a mariner, from what I understand and the story is that he was lost at sea when Mary was a young child. Cape Henlopen is a port in Lewes Delaware that I believe was where John met Lydia. Haven't found info on Lydia, either. Mary Bulmer married Henry Albert Lamphear, from Westerly, Rhode Island, on November 14, 1886 in Lewes, Delaware. Henry was also a mariner and came into port at Cape Henlopen. After their marriage, they moved to Westerly, Rhode Island. They moved to Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania As you can see, this search is frustrating! Thought I had found him in Perry, Maine. The John Bulmer I found had also been lost at sea, but the dates wouldn't work. If Mary was born in 1870, John was probably born between 1840 and 1852. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated!
