Hi Barry,
One of my Aunts by marriage was Catherine (Cassie) Bulman who lived in Hamilton Street,before marrying James Poppleton of Cookson Street,Arthurs Hill in the 1930s.Hamilton Street was not far away from Stanhope Street and the area was a tight knit community ,so possibly there is some connection.
Catherine( b c1900) had the following brothers and sisters:-
Jane (Ginny)Bulman ,who married John Royston and lived in Hamilton St.until 1950 and later Monday St .
Ellen Bulman (the youngest),married a Harry Wonser(or Wonfer)and left to live in the London area.
Edward Bulman ,who married Lilian ? also lived in Hamilton Street in the early 1950s.
Catherine became responsible for bringing up the family after the early death of her mother (date unknown) .
Catherines father lived in Hamilton Street around 1899 but I have no information as to how long.
