Nancy Bullock was born 1793 in Virginia or NC. In 1811 she bore a child, Anderson Byars. A note in a family bible says Anderson Byars father was David Byars. There was a David Byars in Granville Co., NC b. 1795, and he is likely the father. There is no marriage record for this family. Note says there was one other child born to this couple, Henry Byars who died a bachelor. The David Byars mentioned is shown without a wife in 1820 census of Granville. He m. in 1826 to Sally Haley in Granville Co., and they moved to Weakley Co., TN.
Anderson Byars and Nancy Bullock Byars appear in Williamson Co. TN by 1838, where there is an indenture signed by Anderson for the loan of $110 from his mother, Nancy Bullock Byars. Subsequently, Anderson and his mother Nancy move into Maury Co. TN about 1850 and on into Hickman Co. by 1872. Nancy died there in 1885, at the age of 93. She is always found right next to Anderson Byars in all censuses. She must have had a little wealth, as she owned one or two personal slaves as early as 1843. There is a headstone marking her burial place.
Who might be the parents for Nancy. Several Bullock families are in the same district with the Byarses in Granville Co., NC. Charles Bullock? Edward Bullock?
