I have seen her name as Tedder (Tadder) but I think most have disregarded that and believe she was Isley Barlow. I have a copy of the 1850 Covington Co, Ms census which shows Silas, age 66, Sucky (a common nickname for Susan), age 44, I can't read the first child's name, but looks like Jeptha or Jeper R., male, age 16, William Pittman, 18, Loftin, 12, Martha, 7, Joseph W, 4, and Sarah BARLOW, age 85. There appears to be ditto marks beside the last three children, indicating they were also Pittmans. I believe Susan's first husband was a Pittman. Her maiden name was Fairchilds.
Which of Silas's children do you descend from. Our line is Silas > David Gordon > Sidney > William Gordon > Joe Taylor and his sister, Anna Rae.
They are in my extended family. Joe and Anna Rae married into my White line (my Dad's first cousins.)
There is a great deal of info on Silas's descendants. As far as Silas is concerned, no one has been able to get passed him. Michael Bullock, in GA has been at it for years and cannot connect Silas to anyone. He has or has heard of a letter written, I believe, by one of Silas's grandchildren, in which this grandchild says that Silas always told them their name was spelled with an H instead of K. and that they were from Scotland, not England.
I believe Isley Barlow Bullock was Indian, Choctaw, I think, and she may have been born in Va, or possibly Ga. Some believe this is why there is nothing passed Silas, probably some "hard feelings" because he married an Indian.
Silas and Isley are buried in one of the Bullock Cemeteries near Seminary, Ms. Sidney's first wife, Sarah and their son, Sidney, are buried in a Bullock cemetery on the old Blackwell homeplace near Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, Covington Co, Ms. Sidney, at least 3 of his sons, and several grandchildren are buried in Lincoln Co. Heuck's Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery, Little Bahalia Baptist Church Cemetey, and Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
