Peter
Is there any connection with James Buller b abt 1771 Bishops Tawton,Devon d.14 June 1852 Helston, Cornwall (1st) m Elizabeth Pemberthy 23.1.1798 Helston Cornwall (Died) (2nd)M Jennifer Redfern, Bishops Tawton, Devon 26.8.1811 b. Helston,Conwall and your Buller Tree. I have recorded here that he had a brother Thomas? His father was also James m (unknown) d Exeter. I thought there might be a connection with your James Buller (1748-65) and the remaining issue (7)sons.
Issue of James b abt 1771 (7)included Rev. James Buller M Jane Tonkin Martin (Helston)who arrived here is NZ as a tutor and become a Wesleyan Missionery. Their issue (12)
included Sir Walter Lawry Buller my Great uncle.
It is understood the Redvers Buller was a cousin (2nd?) and Walter had sufficient information to claim the Buller Crest on his knighthood.
The Rev James wrote two books and his papers are held in out national archives. Unfortunatly he provided no information or made reference as to family background. For reason obviously only known to him.
