Toni,
I promised to notify you when I learned any thing about the Bullards from Chilton and Coosa County. I have recently found out that my g grandfather was Milton A. Bullard. We found this out by calling the Mortuary that handled my grandfather's funeral.
Milton Anthony Bullard was born on 12-10-1829 and died 7-12-1899 in Bowie County, Texas. He is buried in Gravel Hill Cemetery along with his 18 year old son Thomas J. Bullard born 6-22-1877 died 12-1-1895. Tombstone inscribed "Son of M.A. and M.E. Bullard - Weep Not He is at Rest."
Milton was in the Civil War, 13 Regiment AL, Infantry, Company H.
Now, for the other side of Milton. He Married Mary E. Beard and had a family, but he also had a family by my g grandmother whom he never married. My grandfather and his siblings were all illegitimate. They were Ellen, Becky, and Dolly (Hawkins). They all took the "Bullard" name though, (all of whom I am having a terrible time finding.)
In the 1880 census, Mary E. is listed as "Head of Household" with her children, I suppose Milton was with my g grandmother at that time???? He had not yet gone to Texas. I also have a copy of a land grant that he received in Coosa County in 6-30-1891.
I hope this helps, if you have found out anything else about this family I would certainly appreciate your assistance as well. Good Luck!
