You are welcome, Brad! For the time we are speaking about, there was no Yugoslavia and the territories of Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia were much different. Very large territories like Thrace, Macedonia and the complete Albanian territories were part of Turkey. This should help you to make your search more accurate.

It is very important to find out where exactly your grandfather was born. In Bulgaria such information can be traced in the municipality, tax records, church, grave yards, etc. I guess in the USA is similar.
