I already have his death certificate, naturalization papers, marriage application, etc., but the most maddening thing about this search has been the conflicting information. On Ellis Island records his father was listed as "Trifun Mitefft," but on his death certificate his father's name was listed as "James Trepenoff." On his marriage license application his birth city was listed as "Bavaria," yet on Ellis Island records it's listed as a city called Olretenic. There is no such city in Bulgaria or anywhre in that region. He told his children that he was born in Sofiya, so what do you believe . . . ? To further complicate matters, he assumed the name "Mike George" almost the instant he arrived in America, used that on his Marriage License Application and on the Birth Certificates of all of his children. Then, 29 years after his arrival in America, he applied for naturalization and legally changed his name to Mike George, leaving all of us to wonder, 'should we have been Georges or Trifunoffs at birth? (I vote for Trifunoff because that's who I identify with). I will check out that link you sent and comment later. Thank you! Notify Administrator about this message?
