Hi Everyone, Just wanted to post a message letting all of you out there looking for relatives in Bulgaria not to give up hope. At the beginning of August I came across this forum and read a message about Alexenia Dimitrova (Bulgarian Journalist) and how she had been reuniting lost family members for many years. My grandfather Spasko Ivanov fled Bulgaria in 1947 and came to Australia in 1951. He wrote many letters home letting his family know he was safe. Sadly they never received them. His family were told he had died at the Yugoslavian border. Thanks to this forum, I contacted Alexenia. After many e-mails and phone calls - (only a month later) the amazing news arrived. Although his mother and siblings had all passed away. Alex had found his nieces and nephews and his sisters grandchildren. It has been the most heartwarming and emotional experience. For Spasko and our family and our family in Bulgaria. They tried searching for many years for him - even after the communism died in 1990. It is only now - almost 60 years later that my grandfather has found out - the communists persecuted his whole family after he fled Bulgaria. Now we speak with them on the phone and write e-mails back and forwards everyday. Two of them are even planning a holiday to visit us in Australia in a couple of months. Words cannot describe how we all feel - it is truly a miraculous reunion. We will never forget We owe it all to Alexenia Dimitrova - she is a wonderful woman. I'm sure she would be more than willing to help any of you!!! Good Luck Kacie Australia Notify Administrator about this message?
