Jefferson Ragsdale Buford
In a letter to his sister, Patience Emline, written 22 Sep 1862, by his mother, Jemimah Susannah Buford/Buford, Jemimah says that Jefferson Ragsdale was "at Richmond on the Mississippi lying very low with the mumps. Bill ____ has just got home from there and says that Jefferson caught cold and his intestines is all inflamed and swollen very bad. He don't think that he can live."
Of course, he did live and returned home, but I am curious as to where Richmond on the Mississippi could be.
