Thoreau links to the Buffum family

I have been noticing a great many entanglements between Henry David Thoreau and various members of the Buffum family in Massachusetts and Rhode Island during the middle years of the 19th Century. Apparently many of the Buffums he had contact with were Quaker abolitionists. If anyone on this list happens to have some details of the lives of the various Buffums during that period in those places, I hope they will contact me as these details may fill in some unknown facts about Thoreau's abolitionist work and about his involvement with the Friends.
