William & Martha BUFFAM, to Canada in 1842

William Buffam, along with his wife Martha and their little baby George, emigrated from England to Canada in 1842. They lived in the area of Bathurst Township, Lanark County, Ontario. Their growing family was enumerated in the censuses of 1851, 1861 and 1871.

We know of a number of their children: George, Georgina, Sam, Maryanne, Elisha & Susannah (twins), Betsy, William, Henry, Elizabeth, John and Annie (Martha Ann).

I am descended from the youngest, Annie Buffam, who married Henry Barrie Purdon in 1882, but who died shortly after in December 1884, at the age of 21.

I would love to know more about their origins in England, and to share information with other descendants of this family.

Thank you.
