"Henry" Bittner (Buettner?)
Posted by: Sonja Bittner Date: June 08, 2001 at 14:28:49

Hello!
I am searching for information on "Henry" Bittner. Henry was probably a German immigrant. I believe he married a woman with the surname Birlenbach, though the name may have been closer to Billenbach or Billenbaugh. She MAY have been the daughter of Daniel and Catharine Birlenbach. Daniel and Catharine were probably German immigrants. Daniel lived from August 06, 1818 until November 03, 1890.
Catharine was born April 25, 1815 and died March 28, 1892. They were buried in Cliff Cemetery in Cannelton, Perry County, Indiana. They may have had a son named Wm. Birlenbach (1850-1923). I believe he married a woman named Mary (b. 1860 d. 1938).
Henry Bittner and Unknown Birlenbach/Billenbach/Billenbaugh had a son named Frederick (Fredrich?) Wilhelm Bittner. He was born February 22, 1887. He eventually married Myrtle McKim, daughter of William Thomas (known as Thomas) and Millie Catharine (Aders) McKim.
Henry's surname may have originally been Buttner or Buettner. He and his siblings may have been orphaned, but that may have been his father or part of the Birlenbach family.
If you have any additional information on this family, please let me know!
Thanks.
