Dear Jerry,
Thanks for the tip. However, I have yet to find anyone with paper documentation that he is the John Buell I am looking for.Let me elaborate.
I am descended from Deborah Buell who married Joseph Throop.According to a genealogy book on the Throops (pub. 1932), Deborah Buell was "sister of John Buell who was one of the original proprietors of Litchfield which was settled in 1719."In order for the John Buell b. 1717 to be the right person, he would have had to own a business when he was 2 years old.Highly unlikely.Contrary to what has been published on the internet, I believe that my Deborah Buell is the daughter of Deacon John Buell and Mary Loomis. They had 13 children, one of which is a Deborah b. 24 Jan 1708, and a John Buell, Jr. b. 1 Feb. 1698.This would make him 21 years old when Litchfield, CT. was settled.Certainly of an age to begin a business in a new community. Also, Deacon John, was buried in West Burying Ground, Litchfield, CT, 9 Apr 1746.Another link to Litchfield. If this is the case, she (Deborah Buell Throop) would have been 33 at the birth of her first child and 52 at the birth of her last.Old, but not improbable.
Does anyone have any documentation on which Deborah Buell married Joseph Throop?
