I wonder if you have two John Budd's here. The patriarch John Budd is reported by Hortons in America as migrating to Rye, Westchester Co, New York approx 1664. The will you cite is a Southold will dtd 1684. I think you need some work to establish that will of is of the immigrant.

Per Hortons in America, Jane Budd, daughter of the immigrant John Budd, married Joseph Horton in abt 1655. She could very well have had an older brother named John born 1630's - 1640's that would have had adult children in 1684 (daughters had married names in the will).

Unfortunately, that genealogy offers no clue as to the evidence supporting the assertion that the lady, Jane Budd, is the lady they say she is.

Am very interested if anyone can untangle this web of who's on first.
