Posted by: Anne Winters Date: August 25, 2001 at 22:03:30
  of 1365

In John Budd's 1684 will he mentions his
wife Mary (inheirits 2 cows, a bed, and all household goods, and the negro WOMAN CALLED CATHERINE and her child. And she (I think he means Catherine) is to remain in my NEW dwelling house, and eldest son John shall maintain her (Catherine?) with victuals during her widowhood. And anything more for her comfort shall be at the discretion of my executors. I also leave her (Catherine?) one piece of gold, value 21 shillings."
____I thing the executors were Tuttle and Arnold - part of the original band who came to Southold...if memory serves.

In the Barbadoes records, a John Budd married on 4 Aug.1665 a MARY Gesby she originally from Stepney, London, England. This marriage took place in St. Johns Parish which I believe was in Jamaica.

In 1649 John Budd built the OLD HOUSE which now is on the Historic Register.

No Mention is made of Mary in this document. I keep seeing that John Budd married Mary Horton. Well, a Barnabas Horton died about 1680 and left a widow Mary Horton.
