I have photocopies of the genealogy charts of the BUDD family which were "compiled and written by William BRADFORD [1755-1795][no children], afterwards Attorney General of the United States, about 1774. On his death it passed into the possession of his nephew John B. WALLACE, whose son John Wm. WALLACE, Esq. gave it to me in 1880, with a verbal statement of the above facts. Nov. 15, 1889 (s)Chas. R. Hildebrun" The original charts are on file at the Historical Society of Penna. Wm. BRADFORD was a son of my ancestor William BRADFORD, 3rd (1721-1791), the "Patriot Printer of '76" of Philadelphia and New York, who ran the London Coffee House in Philadelphia and published the "American Magazine." His (Atty Gen. Bradford's) mother was Rachel BUDD (1720-1780), a daughter of Thomas BUDD and Deborah LONGSTAFF/LANGSTAFF, granddaughter of Willaim BUDD and Ann CLAPGUT, greatgranddaughter of Rev. Thomas BUDD (1617-1670) (and Joanna KNIGHT), believed to be a descendant of William BUDD (ca. 1475-1557) of Wadsworth, Surrey, Eng. and Katherine SAUNDERS. Sorry to report that none of the charts include a Nathaniel BUDD.
