There were two John Budds who settled Morris County, known as John Budd of Whippany and John Budd of Roxiticus (Chester), two villages not far apart. This is from a xeroxed excerpt in my notes, titled "Northwestern New Jersey." Don't have the author.
Besides "our lot," there were the descendants of the Quaker Thomas Budd of Somerset, England, whose four sons settled in Burlington, NJ in 1678. The other John Budd, Barnabas, and the counterfeiter belonged in this family group. It would be easy to confuse the two.
I'm not ready to kill off Mary Prudence,or have her replaced. Her husband, John Budd is said to have died /alone/ at the home of his daughter, Mary, wife of Caleb Horton, in 1756-57. (Frances Greenidge, "Chester, New Jersey.")
Did you mention earlier the date of death of Joseph Lyon's first wife?
